** UPDATE #46 **

HIGHWAY 1/ROCKY CREEK VIADUCT PROJECT CONTINUES WITH DAYTIME ROADWORK AND INTERMITTENT OVERNIGHT CLOSURES

Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 at Rocky Creek continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Wednesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 6 with 10-minute delays as needed. Special note: because of extra summer traffic, please be advised that traffic, which is controlled by a signal, is a bit heavier at this location and motorists may experience delays of up to 30 minutes. However, traffic should improve and diminish after the Labor Day weekend.

NOTE: There will be no daytime or nighttime work/closures this Friday, Aug. 30, Sunday, Sept. 1, Monday, Sept. 2 or Tuesday, Sept. 3 due to the Labor Day holiday weekend. In addition, there will be NO OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OR NIGHT ROADWORK next week (Wednesday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 5.)

Work being done next week consists of forming and pouring segments of the deck.

Through traffic continues to be shifted onto the newly constructed southbound half of the viaduct while work continues on the northbound half.

The project to construct a permanent viaduct about 15 miles south of Carmel near the Rocky Creek Bridge began on Sept. 4, 2012. Completion is scheduled by the end of October, weather permitting. Daily roadwork schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors so stay tuned for regular updates.

The contractor for this $11 million viaduct project is Golden State Bridge of Martinez, CA.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
