Henry Miller Library: Film & Sound/BSVFB Muster/Ventana Wilderness Alliance Annual Gathering

You know summer is here when the Henry Miller Memorial Library kicks off the season with their 9th Annual Big Sur International Film Festival. The films are shown Thursday nights on a big screen hung from a redwood tree and projected with a high definition projector. The event is by donation.
Week 1 of the Big Sur International Short Film Screening series kicks off
Thursday, June 12
8:00PM Door, movies start when it gets dark.

This year the library is also premiering Big Sur Sound & Story billed as The world’s most compelling stories in the world’s most stunning location.

Beginning Sunday, June 15th and for ever Sunday until September 2014, the Henry Miller Memorial Library, located in Big Sur, CA, presents Big Sur Sound and Story , when we turn off the lights and turn on the sound.
8:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Visitors will lay out on our lawn beneath a canopy of towering redwood trees, under the stars, steps from the Pacific Ocean, and listen to carefully-selected audio stories played through our world-class sound system.

Installments will be curated by the most innovative purveyors of audio in the English-speaking world, including The Truth, The Kitchen Sisters, Dinner Party Download, Wiretap, Radiotopia, Snap Judgment, and Unfictional.

Join us for a potluck gathering at Toro Park in Salinas. There’s plenty of room so bring a friend! In addition to the potluck, there will be guided hikes, an appearance and proclamation from Congressman Sam Farr, presentations from VWA program leaders. Special Award! US Forest Service leaders from the regional office in Vallejo, the Supervisor’s office in Goleta and the District Office in King City will present VWA Trail Crew LeaderMike Heard with their 2014 National Volunteer of the Year award! Come one come all!
