FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PAVING OPERATION NEAR CARMEL ALONG HIGHWAY 1 BEGINS MONDAY

MONTEREY COUNTY – A less than one mile section of Hwy. 1 from Monastery Beach to Point Lobos near Carmel will be paved with new asphalt starting on Monday, Sept. 29, Caltrans officials announced today.

Roadwork consists of one way reversing traffic control with flaggers. Work hours are from 9 am to 3 pm. Motorists can expect delays not to exceed 10 minutes. Paving should be complete by Friday, Oct. 3.

NOTE: There will be electronic message boards alerting motorists.

This roadwork is being performed by the Caltrans Monterey Maintenance crews as a safety precaution to provide motorists and cyclists a safer route to travel.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
