Update on the water tender accident this morning

Here’s an update on the water tender accident this morning on the #SoberanesFire:

The driver of a water tender working on the west side of the Soberanes Fire was seriously injured Sunday morning when his vehicle rolled approximately 300 feet down a steep embankment.

The accident was reported by fire line personnel at 8:43 a.m. along North Coast Ridge Road. A medical helicopter was launched one minute after the accident was reported while four fire line medics, a Rapid Extrication Module team and a hotshot crew responded on the ground.

The 60-year-old driver was hoisted by helicopter from the scene and flown to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for treatment. The patient is reported to be in stable condition with rib and internal injuries.
