Soberanes Fire Containment has increased to 81% as 2,048 fire personnel continue to focus suppression efforts on the interior fingers to cut off any fire growth. 38 crews, 110 engines, 23 helicopters and 15 water tenders are currently assigned to the 128,380 acre fire. Air resources are also being utilized to shore up the south side of the Church Finger with retardant and water drops. Crews are utilizing miles of hose lays to mop up and secure the containment lines along Carmel Valley Road and north of Arroyo Seco. Soberanes fire managers are coordinating with the #LomaFire to share resources as CalFire works to contain the new fast moving blaze, which has been putting up a very large column of smoke in the area.
