LANE CLOSURES FOR MAINTENANCE ON HIGHWAY 1 IN CARMEL HIGHLANDS AND ON HIGHWAY 68 IN PACIFIC GROVE BEGIN TOMORROW

MONTEREY COUNTY – Three maintenance projects will take place beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 30 along north and southbound Highway 1 at Carmel Highlands and on westbound Hwy. 68 (Holman Highway) in Pacific Grove next Tuesday, Dec. 6. Details are as follows:

Wednesday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 2: Northbound Hwy. 1 between Wild Cat and Point Lobos in Carmel Highlands:

· One-way reversing traffic control with flagging to clean ditch a line.

· Roadwork hours are from 9 am to 2 pm with 10-minute delays expected.

Saturday, Dec. 3: Southbound Hwy. 1 just south of Granite Cyn. Bridge, south of Carmel

Highlands:

· One-way reversing traffic control with flagging for guardrail repair.

· Roadwork hours are from 7:30 am to 2 pm with 10-minute delays expected.

Monday, Dec. 5: Southbound Hwy. 1 at Handley Drive in Carmel:

· #2 (right) lane closed for dead tree removal.

· Roadwork hours are from 9 am to 2 pm with 5-minute delays expected.

· The CHP will be present to assist with traffic control.

Tuesday, Dec. 6: Westbound Hwy. 68 (Holman Highway) in Pacific Grove:

· One-way reversing traffic control with flagging for tree removal.

· Roadwork hours are from 9 am to 2 pm with 10-minute delays expected.

· The CHP will be present to assist with traffic control.

The purpose of these maintenance projects is 1) clean a ditch line as part of storm preparation; 2) to improve traveler safety by repairing and upgrading a recently hit and damaged guardrail; and 3) to remove dead trees. Roadwork is expected to be complete by Tuesday, Dec. 6 and is being done by the Salinas Tree and Monterey Maintenance crews.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
