Good morning Rob,
Caltrans will be contacting the flaggers just north of Ragged Pt. to treat garbage trucks as locals, with the understanding that all trucks will comply with the restrictions through Paul’s Slide (PM 21.6) which are:
· Up to 35,000 lbs in total weight
· Up to 30 feet in total length
We realize this may pose a bit of a challenge, but this would simply mean a smaller truck if the length is the issue and maybe a half-full garbage truck—or up to 35,000 lbs, if weight is an issue.
Like I mentioned, we will notify flaggers that garbage trucks will be considered “locals” so you will not have a problem with access.
Kirk and Martha—Please help me disseminate this information.

Residents of Big Sur for any questions or concerns you have regarding waste issues you may contact Waste Management staff at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. As an update: Waste Management is currently servicing north of the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge at regular schedule and south of the down bridge every other Friday. Next service day south of the down bridge will be April 7th.
I am coordinating the effort to get garbage hauled out of Big Sur as we want to avoid a public health issue.
I have also given your email to our vendor to reach out to get info on bridges/roads to get to the population and haul the waste as well as places to place containers for residents to get to themselves.
I’ve included Kristin and Felipe from Waste Management to keep us all in the loop.
Thanks for your help.
