HIGHWAY 1 UPDATE – Thursday, Oct. 26

The State Route 1 closure, due to Mud Creek slide, after the early completion of the Elephant Trunk Drainage modification near Ragged Point, returned to its previous location, north of Salmon Creek, just south of the Ranger Station (Mon. Co. PM 3) yesterday evening, Wednesday, Oct. 25. The closure location change lasted three days instead of five. Salmon Creek is again accessible to the public.

The drainage modification was necessary at the recently completed Elephant Trunk Soldier Pile Wall project and consisted of welding, hoisting and anchoring the drainage pipe on the hillside as the photos show. This roadwork was completed yesterday by 6 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 25.
