CABS: Update on South Coast Helicopter Resupply

Dear South Coast Neighbors, Monterey County & State OES do not have a confirmed date/time for the Helicopter Resupply for this week. As soon as we have a date & time, CABS will send out a notification and utilize all of our avenues of communicating this with all of your help. Thank you! Patte Kronlund Community Association of Big Sur Big Sur Health Center Medication Update: We have now learned that in order to get early medication refills, you must call your insurance company and explain your emergency situation. Once insurance approves the early refill date, the prescription can be filled. It may be faster to request and arrange for mail order. Ask your doctor to send the order to your insurance company. All prescriptions must be prepaid. Sharen Carey, PA-C Big Sur Health Center Sharen Carey, PA-C Original Resupply Notice: Dear South Coast Neighbors, The Community Association of Big Sur is working in collaboration with Big Sur Fire, Big Sur Health Center, Big Sur CERT, Monterey County OES, US Forest Service, Monterey County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and many others for a “Helicopter Resupply” for this Wednesday or the latest Friday. This resupply is for those of you who are trapped between Mill Creek Slide south to Polar Star Slide/Ragged Point and is for food ordered from Safeway at the Crossroads, Animal / Livestock needs from the SPCA, medications facilitated by the Big Sur Health Center (see below), and more food provided by the Big Sur Big Share. These forms – Resupply Food Order and Resupply Livestock/Animal Needs – need to be completed and emailed to: info by Monday, January 23rd, by 7:00 PM. We apologize for the short notice. MEDICATION NEEDS Big Sur Health Center is coordinating with CABS, BSF, and County OES to help obtain medication refills for all those trapped between Mill Creek and Polar Star. If you need any medication refills, please follow these steps: Call your medical office first thing Monday morning and explain you have an urgent, time-sensitive medical need. Ask the office to call your prescriptions BY NOON to CVS pharmacy at Carmel Crossroads. Request a minimum supply of at least 2 weeks, more if insurance allows. Call CVS at 624-0148 Tell CVS you are part of the medication supply for Big Sur. Pay any necessary co-pays or other charges. Tell them Sharen Carey from Big Sur Health Center will be picking up your prescriptions for you. Jasmine Horan is your point of contact for communicating your medication needs. Please email Jasmine at Jasminestarhoran with the following information: Full name Date of Birth Number of prescriptions (no prescription names) I will be picking up medications at 3:00 pm on Monday, placing them in individual bags for privacy, and boxing them for transport on the helicopter that will be bringing all supplies over to you.
